JD Hardy, The Bad Boy From Bakersfield
JD Hardy is a country singer and songwriter known for his unique sound, with a one-of-a-kind voice and flair for combining traditional and Outlaw country, revved by a Southern Rock edge.
His high-energy performances and captivating stage presence are a measure of his aura and signature style as a must-see entertainer.
Born in Bakersfield, CA, music was a family affair. The first concert he attended as a young boy was that of his grandmother (Wanda Lou Hardy) and father, Jack Hardy. Signed to Calvary Records in the 60s, Wanda Lou sang Gospel, while Jack performed alongside Buck Owens and various other country music greats.
“I guess you could say I was ‘born into it,’ and I wouldn’t trade my destiny or this journey for anything.”
With a knack for crafting a song exactly the way he envisions, the self-taught musician (who is proficient on guitar, bass and drums) follows in his family’s footsteps with moxie.
“I’m confident in my musical direction. I write and arrange all of my own music; the production is straightforward and raw; my songs aren’t cookie cutter; I’m not trendy, and I don’t candy-coat the storylines.”
Carrying the torch for his musical influences, Waylon Jennings, Hank Williams Jr., and hometown country music superstar, and former neighbor, Merle Haggard, Hardy has shared the stage with some of country music’s best entertainers including Mark Chesnutt, Randy Houser, Trace Adkins, Easton Corbin and Tyler Farr.
Fueled by his passion for country music and the chase to realize his life dream, JD Hardy was signed to the Oak Records label by the legendary industry mogul, Ray Ruff (of George Strait, Hank Jr. and Dwight Yoakam fame) in 2005. He moved on to become a member of the Castle Records artist roster in 2007. The release of his debut single, “Rebels With A Cause,” (2013) and “Country Saves Me” (2017) met with immediate welcome from country radio, the fans and his peers to ignite his momentum. Hardy’s most recent album, KILLER (produced by Dean Miller and released in 2021), sets the bar as to what folks can expect from the Bakersfield bad boy. The album features nine originals boasting an array of party tunes, blue-collar anthems and tender love songs.
“The majority of storylines are derived from my personal life experiences, the challenges I’ve encountered and my passions—past, present and future. I think there’s something for everyone on the project.”
The combination of JD Hardy’s inherited talent, intuitional song craftsmanship, raw productions and KILLER sound, set him apart as one of the next country music greats.
